Hi, my name is Jackie and I'm a software junkie.
It's true - I love trying new software. What I don't like are crippled versions, hour-long trials, etc.
What I do like are initiatives like http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/. I don't know how sustainable the model is, but I'm along for the ride.
So far the free giveaways have been largely games and image editing software - both of which I like, so it's all right with me. And the price is right!

let's see, on my flash drive alone i have Money Manager, Budget Master, GIMP imaging, Maxthon Browser, Thunderbird, Sunbird, KeyNote, Crimson Editor.... all free! at home I've got a desktop version of GIMP, Open Office, Font Thing, and a couple of others I can't even remember on my external HD.
if you like imaging software you really oughta try GIMP.org; it's on par w/ photoshop or paintshop pro...

Tina: Sounds like you're on Linux though. Not everybody is on it... but I'm glad you are!

Yeah, having shell accounts definitely ups your geek creds.
